About Ian

Ian Rathbone was born in Hackney and is a historian of the borough. His children went to school in the borough and he is a local school governor.

A councillor since 2002, he has been active in campaigning against street crime. He recently led the campaign to close down a local nightclub in Lower Clapton Road which has become the source of drug dealing and violence.

He has fought for and won a new community hall on The Mount Estate and the repair of the tower block lifts. He has also successfully fought for the rebuilding of three estate playgrounds in Leabridge Ward. He has championed the regeneration of Clapton Pond and was recently elected the Chair of the Clapton Pond Neighbourhood Action Group (CPNAG).

He has supported the Chatsworth Road Market festival and community moves to revive Chatsworth market.
