  Massive Improvements in GCSE Results

At the last election in 2006, Labour in Hackney pledged that by 2010

GCSE results in the borough would exceed the national average. There have been massive improvements in GCSE results this year and pupils in Hackney have achieved better results than the national average for the first time ever – 52% got five or more good GCSEs.

Haggerston, Cardinal Pole and Hackney Free all improved their results by at least 10%, and Mossbourne Academy achieved a staggering 84% - raising the bar for all schools in Hackney.

The full results are:

  • Cardinal Pole: 51%
  • Clapton Girls: 49%
  • Hackney Free and Parochial: 31%
  • Haggerston Girls: 49%
  • Mossbourne Communtiy Academy: 84%
  • Our Lady's Convent: 69%
  • Skinner's: 30%
  • Stoke Newington: 48%
  • Yesodey Hatorah School for Girls: 83%

Cllr Rita Krishna, Cabinet member for Children and Young People, said: “These results are a real tribute to the dedication of staff and governors across Hackney – and of course, to the pupils themselves for doing so well this year.  Congratulations to all of them!”
