Will has lived in Hackney since moving to London eight years ago, and in Victoria ward for the last six.
He is committed to the area and wants to give something back by standing for the council. Will is currently Head of Media at the Electoral Reform Society, as part of a career which has spanned journalism, communications and research. He also volunteers at a Hackney secondary school for a mentoring charity.
Katie has lived in Hackney for 15 years and has been a Victoria ward councillor since 2006. She is delighted that the ward is to get a new mixed, non-denominational secondary school this year.
She works for the media regulator Ofcom, mainly on access and inclusion for disabled and elderly people. She is a member of the Unite trade union.
She is also a member of a community choir in South Hackney. Katie cycles to work most days and is proud to be a member of the London Cycling Campaign.
Geoff has lived in South Hackney since coming here to teach in 1971. He has been involved in a variety of community activities throughout that time, and has published a book about the history of South Hackney.
He has been a councillor for Victoria ward since 2002, served as Speaker of Hackney Council in 2004-05 and cabinet member since 2014 with responsibilty for finance. As a councillor, Geoff’s particular interests are regulatory matters, such as planning and licensing, and children’s services; he has represented Hackney on planning matters to do with the Olympic Park since 2005.
Geoff believes that politics at every level must be informed by clear values, and is committed working towards the Labour Party vision of ‘a community in which power, wealth and opportunity are in the hands of the many not the few’.
