In May 2010, we made five key pledges setting out what the Labour administration in Hackney plans to do over the following 4 years.

On Your Side
We have frozen Hackney's element of the Council Tax for the last five years, improving services with no cuts, and we pledge again to keep it as low as possible.

Making Hackney Safe
Working with the police and residents we will continue to deliver a year on year reduction in crime, tackling all anti-social behaviour including noise and dog nuisance.



Thriving Greener Hackney
A cleaner, more sustainable Hackney with 50 renewed public spaces, increased help for residents to save energy and recycle more, and our streets safe for pedestrians and cyclists with a 20mph limit.

Investing In Children
Building on this year’s best ever grades, all our secondary school GCSE results will be higher than the national average, and all our primary schools assessed as 'good' or 'outstanding'.

Improving Your Homes
More Decent Homes, including the completion of the roofs and windows
