¬†Councillor Carole Williams, Cabinet member for Employment, Skills and Human Resources, launched the Council’s new apprenticeship programme in March, 2017,which will see 100 apprentices working across a host of council services by 2018/19.

In July the Council advertised for apprentices for a wide range of service areas across the Council including business and administration, youth work, customer services, multi-trade, gas engineering (commercial), electrical, carpentry, revenues and communications.

All of our apprenticeships last at least 12 months, combine work, on and off the job training, and study towards a recognised qualification in a relevant subject.

The Council has committed to paying all apprentices aged over 18 a salary of around £19,000 per year, which is above London Living Wage, and well above the average apprenticeship salary which is around £13,000 per year.
