DEPUTY Mayor Cllr Anntoinette Bramble recently launched ‘Hackney’s Diverse Curriculum – the Black Contribution’. This new curriculum will be sent to every school in Hackney and will insist that Black History is British history.
Cllr Bramble said: “With the hard work of Hackney teachers, round table participants and council staff, my vision to revolutionise the way we teach Black British History has come to light and I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved in this important work.
“We have provided nine teaching packs, each with a 6-week lesson plan and will be free to all schools in Hackney with the hope to inspire schools and educators nationwide. By making these packs freely accessible, we feel there’s no more excuses to neglect these vital lessons.
“I am asking everyone to help us to instigate a more inclusive and balanced approach to our Black British history in our schools and for our young people.”
