Hackney Council's Youth Sports Fund

The Labour Council is helping to support young sports talent in Hackney by offering funding. Young people and community groups in the Borough can apply for funding to support sports development through the Hackney Youth Sports Fund.

The fund awards grants to talented young athletes aged 9-23 to help with the costs of training and competing in their chosen sport.

Since it began in 2007, Hackney Council’s Youth Sports Fund has granted over £200,000 towards the development of young athletes.

The fund is one of a number of measures to try to make sure that money isn’t an obstacle in the way of sporting success for the youth of Hackney. There is also the Cash 4 Clubs scheme through which sports clubs that are registered with their sport's national governing body or local authority can apply for grants of up to £1,000. Cash 4 clubs gives clubs a unique chance to apply for grants to improve facilities, purchase new equipment, gain coaching qualifications, and generally invest in the sustainability of their club.  Since 2008 over £100,000 has been given out in grants to 139 community sports clubs across the UK. There are 3 tiers of grants at £250, £500 and £1,000. You can make an application at any time online at https://hackney.gov.uk/sports-grants-employment-training.
