PHILIP Glanville has been re-selected as Labour’s candidate for the Mayor of Hackney in the May 2022 local election.
He said: “As Labour’s candidate for the Mayor of Hackney, I’ll build on our record as a progressive Labour council and will campaign to rebuild a better Hackney.
“I am proud of everything Hackney Labour has achieved since I became Mayor. We have built hundreds of social homes, insourced hundreds of staff and services, and invested millions in decarbonising our borough.
“We’ve invested in our frontline services and made the biggest investment in leisure facilities in Hackney in a generation ─ built a brand new Britannia Leisure Centre, started a full refurbishment of the West Reservoir Leisure Centre and a brand new learner pool at London Fields Lido.
“Now we need to keep Hackney Labour with a strong team of Labour councillors so we can rebuild a better borough with hundreds more social homes, a thriving green economy and good jobs for our residents, cleaner air and a plan to tackle the climate emergency.”
Under Philip Glanville’s leadership as Mayor, Hackney Labour has:
PLANTED 2,500 new trees on Hackney’s streets and over 11,000 in its parks and green spaces.
INTRODUCED 48 School Streets banning traffic from outside school gates, making 18,000 school children’s walk or cycle to school safer with cleaner air.
BUILT or started over 500 council social rented homes, with hundreds more with planning permission starting soon.
INSOURCED 360 jobs and £12m worth of council contracts, bringing staff and services back into the public sector.
INCREASED the number of Living Wage businesses in Hackney to 160 ─ up by 138 since he became Mayor.
The good news is being delivered to homes across the borough during October by Labour Party members
