Ben has lived in Hackney for 18 years and been the councillor for Hackney Central for the last 10 of these. He is a barrister with a strong commitment equality and supporting the most vulnerable. He has previously worded as a Residential Care Worker with vulnerable young people; at the former Commission for Racial Equality; and as an intern at the United Nations.
Ben is committed to listening to and engaging with residents Ben says: “I have been really proud to represent Hackney Central but there is so much more to do. The repairs service on our estates needs urgently improving, our most vulnerable residents need support as they face a cost of living crises and we must tackle the climate emergency whilst ensuring social justice is at the heart of our response.”
Ben has a particular interest in health, having chaired the Hackney and regional health committees over the last 4 years and been a Governor of the Homerton Hospital. He has campaigned against the takeover of Hackney and East London GP practices by US private health firms, is passionate about ensuring access and reducing the inequality divide within the borough.
