Chris Kennedy

Chris has been a Hackney resident since 1995 and a councillor for Hackney Wick ward since 2002. He lives in Hackney Central with his partner and their two children, who both attend local secondary schools.

He has previously served on the licensing and planning committees and was Chair of the Children and Young People’s Scrutiny Commission for two years before joining Mayor Glanville’s cabinet in 2018.

His portfolio responsibilities are Health, Adult Social Care, Leisure and the Voluntary Sector. He cycles or walks to all his meetings and whilst recognising that Low Traffic Neighbourhoods are not perfect, he supports their introduction. Chris is particularly proud of the way the council has worked in partnership with the voluntary and community sector and local residents to deliver support for those who have needed it most during the pandemic.
