Claudia emigrated from Bolivia to Britain in 2003 and has lived and raised her family in Hackney since then.
She is passionate about our workers rights and will draw from her trade union experience to advocate for good employment conditions for Victoria Ward residents.
Claudia is a longstanding member and former Treasurer of migrants-led trade union, UVW, which has gained London Living Wage for thousands of workers and in-source contracts for cleaners and porters in the NHS.
She feels strongly about the importance of free support services for communities socioeconomic and emotional wellbeing. Since 2017, she runs a free counselling project for families and young people across Hackney as well as educational programmes for hispanic communities, largely in Hackney, who do not speak English on topics from electorate, credit rating, pension, renters and employment rights.
Claudia looks forward to being of proactive support in issues affecting our residents in Victoria and representing their needs and hopes for the ward in Council.
