Frank Baffour has lived in Hackney for about 30 years, almost since his arrival in the UK in the 1980s. His children were born and raised here in Hackney. He is a proud council tenant.
Frank is passionate about community empowerment. He was involved in setting up community-led groups like the TMO of which he is a Board Member, Director of Finance, and Chair of the Finance Committee. He also set up the local 50-plus group and the Wenlock Barn Youth Club where he has been involved in organising Estate seaside trips and street parties.
As a Treasurer of the TMO, he was able to raise £1,500 to support St John’s Food Bank to give every household on his Estate £20 Sainsbury’s vouchers and a reusable face mask during the pandemic. This work has given him an understanding of residents’ problems, and he aims to ensure that residents voice plays a central role in the Council’s decision-making process.
