Sophie has proudly represented Hackney Central, the ward where she was born and brought up, since 2016. She is a social housing tenant and is rooted in the Hackney community that she has called home her whole life.
Sophie has worked with children and young people since 2010, advocating for the rights of children who’ve been excluded from school, those with special educational needs, care experienced young people and young parents. She has channelled this experience into her work Chairing the Children and Young People Scrutiny Commission, holding the mayor and executive to account on issues including adolescents entering care, school exclusions and unregistered educational settings.
After over a decade of Tory cuts and now the cost-of-living crisis residents are feeling it. As your councillor for Hackney Central, Sophie will continue campaign and lobby central government for a better deal for Hackney residents. At a local level Sophie will continue to push for a fairer, more equal, safer and greener hackney.
