Susan is a British- Nigerian and has lived in Stoke Newington with her family for over 30 years. She has represented Stoke Newington Ward on the council since 2010.
To give something back, for the past twenty-five years Susan has served her community in many ways, being a Mentor to young Asylum Seekers on the defunct Hackney Refugee Network, a Local Authority school governor at Grasmere School, a trustee at Abney Park Cemetery.
Susan was one of the residents that worked with Hackney council that led to the setup of Howard Road Resource Centre in Stoke Newington to create the first-ever opportunity for residents that lives in social housing to have access to the internet in the late ’90s.
One of Susan’s great passions is to nurture and support young people, this was why she founded SFT Foundation Trust, an organisation supporting families and providing mentoring for young people in London.
Susan is the Cabinet Member for Community Safety, with responsibilities for crime reduction and antisocial behaviour, night time economy, strategic relationship with the police, licensing enforcement, environmental health, environmental protection, trading standards, Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), and youth justice.
